I’m going to be gone for at least a month, and I haven’t been able to find someone in Richmond to keep Jo at their house. Should I hire a girl I know to come by my apartment every day or two to check on my cat (she has done this for three weeks before and did well) or pay more and have my cat boarded (I found a local place that does it for $10 a day)?

I felt incredibly guilty leaving my cat alone for three weeks before, even with someone coming by four or five times a week, but if boarding’s more stressful then I’d rather her stay at home, slowly coating my entire apartment in nine layers of cat hair.

(Sorry to all about all the questions. Trip planning solo is a butt pain.)

Well, I’ll tell ya! I’m figuring out if I’m gonna try to deal with MegaBus or Greyhound + other transport to get from Virginia to Long Island (and get that wonderful satisfaction of sitting and reading for 7 hours) or drive (and get that wonderful satisfaction of not dealing with bitches)!

So I’m going up to Long Island on June 7th for a wedding on June 8th. I’m staying with Boy Thing until the 11th. I have to be at Newark Airport by 6 PM on the 12th. So I have to figure out how to get from Long Island to Newark and where to stay on the 11th (I’m thinking hotel by the airport?) but planning it all is stressing me out way more than it should and why is New York so big, you guys should really fix that.

In the past few days my entire body has broken out in an evil, hellish rash of itchy little bumps and hives. I don’t know what set it off, but I suspect it was my riverfront trip, though that involved sitting on a rock for an hour and making no contact whatsoever with the river or trees or other “nature.” I’ve also been thirsty and nauseous and having dizzy spells, but I’ve been chalking that up to my all-cheeseburger diet and my feminine vapors.

So I’m trying to fall asleep and not scratch 5 feet 4 inches worth of itches at 4 AM, all while trying to figure out what I did wrong to the world for karma to retaliate by making me spend the last few weeks with Boy Thing (before our 10 weeks apart) looking like a walking herpes infestation. Maybe I should stop that orphanage-arson side business. But damn it, what are we on this earth for if we can’t do what we love?

I’m gonna be doing a fair amount of writing abroad. I don’t want to bring my laptop, but writing on the iPad screen keyboard is bleh. I already have a good iPad case, so I’m mostly looking for a keyboard I can easily connect/disconnect to use with ByWord, but I’m not against a great keyboard case. Right now I’m thinking either something like TacType that fits over the iPad so I can write flat, or just the Apple Wireless Keyboard. Any input from you more knowledgeable nerds would be awesome.

Accidentally dyed my hair light brown so I’m going with it.

Still wavering between continuing to grow out my hair while I’m in Europe (and spending 3 weeks with it in a ponytail, cuz long hair + heat brings out all my nopes) or chopping it to right above my shoulders again (and spending another 6 months waiting for it to re-grow).

But it’s nice that one of the biggest issues in my life right now is my hair. How I adore you, summertime.

Figuring out what to do May 10-June 10. I want to get a side project going, but I have no idea what to do. I want to take an online class, but I have no idea where to start. I want to get decently good at Photoshop and AfterEffects and some basic design skills, but don’t know where to start there, either. I want to write something, but I don’t know what to write about. I’ll have another month after I come back, too, to do… something. I just need to start.

- At the last minute, they switched the professors who did our final first-year portfolio review today, from the professor who’s been making me consider dropping out to an art direction prof I’ve only had once. It doesn’t seem like much, but to have someone with fresh eyes for all of my work say this to me was the perfect end to my year.
